Elizabeth Leavitt, Director of Aviation Planning and Environmental Affairs for the Port of Seattle

Jacqueline Drumheller, Manager for Environmental Affairs for Alaska Airlines

Learn about the award-winning efforts of the Port of Seattle and Alaska Airlines to reduce their environmental footprints and their unique partnerships that contribute to the sustainability of an entire industry. Elizabeth Leavitt, Director of Aviation Planning and Environmental for the Port of Seattle and Jacqueline Drumheller, Manager of Environmental Affairs for Alaska Airlines will discuss the many challenges and opportunities in limiting the environmental impact of domestic aviation from reduction and recycling of food and beverage waste, to programs to enhance aircraft fuel efficiency.

Our meeting will be held at SeaTac Airport’s new Conference Center with direct access from downtown Seattle via the earth-friendly light rail Link.

Aviation is a critical component of the global economy and contributes an annual $1.2 trillion dollars and more than 11 million jobs to the U.S. economy with nearly 2 million people flying every day in our country. The overall environmental impact of these flights is significant from the use of fossil fuels to power aircraft and equipment, to the materials used in food and beverage service, to noise in local communities.  While there are global and national pressures for airlines and airports to reduce their environmental footprints, a strong aviation industry is critical for economic, cultural, and security reasons.

Hosting of the space and a major contribution towards the lunches was generously donated by Port of Seattle and Alaska Airlines.
